Arkansas Governor Issues Proclamation Recognizing Patient Safety Awareness Week

Recognizing the importance of patient safety and the need to understand the underlying causes of medical error and to learn from them, Governor Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas recently issued a Proclamation recognizing March 13-19, 2016, as Patient Safety Awareness Week in his state.

The Proclamation reads, in part:

Patient safety is central to top-quality healthcare in our nation and our state, and the key to improving patient safety is understanding the underlying causes of errors, learning from reported errors, and working to eliminate conditions that contribute to preventable errors.

Increased improvement in patient safety can be achieved by promoting the widespread sharing of best practices within the healthcare industry, as well as by continuous communication between patients and caregivers.
